El Sheik Malik

This spot is only 15 minutes from our base and therefore ideal for a half day trip by our jeep. It is ideal for beginners as wall as for snorkelers and if you are lucky you will experience "the highlight" - a manatee, a so-called dugong. Next to the more famous diving spot, Abu Dabab, this is one of the few where you can admire these rare mammals.

Also beginners are able to dive here because it is only 12 meters deep. On the one hand you will find seaweed here which is essential for the manatee's survival as it is their principal food and on the other hand you will be able to see coral banks which are totally intact and covered nicely. You can also admire big turtles in the shallow bay. Even if you do not have the opportunity of catching sight of our dungong, it is worth diving here.

We can only dive here, however, when the weather is calm. Dungongs mostly live in flat waters and therefore the sight won't be good when waves are whirled up.
